Town Board

The Town Chairperson & Supervisors of Buchanan are responsible for establishing direction and policies for the Town. The Town Board generally meets once per month (The third Tuesday at 6:00pm at the Town Hall.) All residents are encouraged to attend meetings. Town Board meeting Agendas and Minutes are posted on our website and at the Town Hall.

The Town Board Chairperson is responsible for making appointments to numerous boards/commissions and for chairing the Town Board meetings. The Town Board as a whole is responsible for establishing and approving an annual budget and establishing the general policy direction of the Town.

Plan Commission

The Town Plan Commission consists of seven members, one of whom is the Town Chairperson and one of whom is a Town Supervisor with the remaining appointed citizen members.  The Town Plan Commission has the powers and duties prescribed in s. 62.23, Wis. Stats, including the power to investigate, review and make recommendations to the Town Board on all planning an zoning related matters within the Town and to conduct related public hearings.

Board of Appeals

The Board of Appeals (BOA) is a five-member body appointed by the Town Board to hear and decide appeals, interpret the Zoning Ordinance, and to approve or deny variances. Another responsibility of the BOA is to provide an appeal mechanism for property owners who believe that the Town administration has made an error in interpreting the zoning ordinance. The Board of Appeals meets on an as-needed-basis.  Meetings are open to the public and are held at the Town Hall. Board of Appeals meeting Agendas and Minutes are posted on our website and at the Town Hall.
